| The Convent New Exhibitions The next few months at The Convent, Daylesford feature the follwing exhibitions Marc Chagall 1887 - 1985 'COLLECTION OF LITHOGRAPHS' Clearly the magic of Marc Chagall is in the images of childhood memories that float through many of his works. Chagall's work is honest and direct in its revelation of the artist's character. Chagall proved himself one of the 20th century's great masters of art. Colourful Women Textile Artists 'JOURNEYINGS' Textiles Without a doubt, the life experiences of the Colourful Women group influence the contemporary and innovative works they create through fabric, colour, texture, stitch and space. A diverse range of media is explored by the artists and includes screen-printing, dying, silk painting, acrylics, felting and hand and machine stitch. Kim Anderson 'LOST FOUND' A collection of works on paper and works on mirrors. What does our body tell us about our mind within? This is the question Kim seeks to portray in her most recent body of work to be exhibited at The Convent. "Every crease of skin carries something of our history. Our greatest emotions reside not just within the heart or brain, they course through every part of this living, breathing, soft, pink, warm, wrinkly, hairy form that we 'inhabit' ". Often working with charcoal on paper, Kim has recently begun working 'drawing' on glass. Therefore her exhibition is a collection of the two mediums. Carolyn Buckley 'DIARY OF THE MIND' Photomontage Carolyn stepped from the classroom into Japanese culture for 5 years, and this was the beginning of what has become a life changing passion. Photomontage is now Carolyn's main focus. She has been the recipient of a number of photographic awards from Japan, Shanghai and Australia. Diary of the Mind is Carolyn's first solo exhibition. Furthermore Dr Simonne Jameson of Arts Sans Frontiers will be conducting a Free Talk about the Chagall Collection and her meeting of artists Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso July 15th at 2.00pm at The Convent. | Christine Anu 3 Piece Acoustic Christine Anu, is a multi-ARIA award winner and her signature tune My Island Home will resonate in the hearts of Australians for all time! From very humble beginnings in the Torres Strait in far North Queensland, Christine has worked hard at establishing a successful and varied career in singing, dancing and acting. The release of Anu's first album "Stylin Up" set the country on fire, and produced a great many hit singles, including "My Island Home" (penned by Neil Murray), "Party", "Monkey and the Turtle" and "Wanem Time", as well as winning an ARIA Award.Christine then made a deeper foray into the land of theatre and film, appearing in feature films, television and musical theatre to much acclaim. Following the birth of her son Kuiam, Baz Luhrmann invited her to sing on his internationally released album "Something for Everybody", the duet she recorded with Opera star David Hobson "Now Until The Break Of Day" was a national hit. Christine then went back into the stu dio and recorded her second album "Come My Way". Hit singles from this album include "Sunshine On A Rainy Day", "Jump To Love" and "Coz I'm Free" a song inspired by Cathy Freeman. The release aligned with her appearance at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Following some tours, and more feature film roles (Moulin Rouge, Matrix Reloaded), Christine had a baby daughter, Zipporah, in 2002. Full of inspiration after having Zippy, she went straight back to the recording studio and the release of her third Album "45 Degrees" quickly followed. This album produced the hit single "Talk About Love". Following some more stage and television work (Kissing Frogs, Popstars), Anu decided to devote more time to her two children. The lead role in the new musical show "Intimate and Deadly" encouraged Christine back on stage. Her performance won rave reviews and the season was extended to include additional shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and will travel to other states.Christ ine's career covers all facets of show-business and she has appeared on all our major TV shows including Rove, The Panel, GMA, Sunrise, and her efforts have been well-acknowledged in the industry.
